Tablao Flamenco Cordobes is a historical place, an institution, on the Ramblas of Barcelona, where, for 47 years, all the flamenco stars continue to pass. From the very day of its foundation has been dedicated to promote, preserve and preserve the most authentic and quality flamenco. In addition, he has taken some of the most important productions from his stage of Las Ramblas to the theaters and stages of the world (Paris, Madrid, Seville, Poland, London ...), also becoming active promoter.
In 2014 he also landed in the Palau de la Música Catalana, where he presents some of his most important productions under the "Grand Flamenco Festival of Barcelona" brand, always featuring the best artists of the moment: Farruquito, Jesús Carmona, Karime Amaya, José Maya, La Tana and Belén López, among others.
On the occasion of his 45th Anniversary he presented the show "Los Farruco and Los Amaya", with the presence of the consecrated Farruquito, who was awarded the Critics' Prize 2015 to the best performer for his performance in this show. This prestigious prize is awarded by the specialized press in culture and shows of Barcelona.
This show presents the contrast between two illustrious surnames of flamenco, accompanied by the young talents of today.
Once again, the extraordinary universality of flamenco brings together artists representing Seville and Catalonia: Antonio "El Farru" and Karime with Susana Casas and Sara Barrero, who are in the elite of professional recognition by the connoisseurs. >
This show intends to recreate the gypsy peripecia upon its arrival in Spain, through the Rhone entering Catalunya in 1425 represented by two essential Gypsy families, the Farruco and the Amaya. The black clouds of the fifteenth century, religion as an integrating condition, its gradual integration, and the consolidation of an idiosyncrasy of strong personality. This way of being, nourished by mestizaje and musical and artistic creativity, forms a form of expression that we call Flamenco.
From this synopsis we have three messages:
The ethnic-musical fusion that takes place between the Andalusian and Gypsy people in Andalusia during the nineteenth century and that consolidates in the twentieth, with an undoubted social background.
The incorporation of the result of that fusion of flamenco and cultured music as a source of inspiration through Spanish and Catalan musical nationalism.
And finally, its transverse capacity as a framework for coexistence, to produce aesthetic-flamenco settlements anywhere in the world; An example of which Catalunya is a clear representation.
