Tears for Carmen Amaya

The show “With Carmen Amaya in the Memory” starts with Baroque music which represents the entrance of the gypsies in Spain. The show is a tribute to the great dancer Carmen Amaya from the Somorrostro in the centenary of her birth.
The performance is divided in three parts. The first one “The Origin” is characterized for the solo songs and the gypsy voices and dances by the three great artists that collaborate in this tribute and then rain, drops, rain shower. The tears for Carmen Amaya marked the middle of the gypsy show which is about an artist that, as it is said, was born and died with a flamenco spirit, with character and fierceness. “The Legacy” and “Carmen and Her Time” completed the show that reminded the spirit of the woman that, as Federico used to say, brought the dance to the corners of the blood.
The three dancers showed strength and fierceness. Sometimes the intense passion made the performance a bit excessive but talking about Carmen maybe that histrionic character was the best one.
However, the tribute deserves to be known in all Spain.
